Wendy McLean - Jewellery Designer The design of jewellery has often followed the technological progress of humans over the centuries. My inspiration stems from the ancient Egyptian, European Medieval eras and designs with an African theme. I am also influenced by the use of both old and new technologies to design new pieces of jewellery. I use natural, semi-precious stones, precious stones, found objects, modern and high tech materials and combine them with metals such as silver and gold to create stunning contemporary jewellery. I create simple wire designs to more complicated ones using silversmith and engineering techniques. The design range includes necklaces, pendants, earrings and bracelets.
Wendy McLean I often design jewellery items around the shape, colours and textures of the stones or metal. I particularly love the variation of colours found in gemstones such as diamond, sapphire, tourmalines, beryls and garnets. Many design inspirations are found in natural repeat patterns, which can be seen in some of my metal work. This year is especially exciting, as I will be running several jewellery making workshops throughout the year, starting in April 2011. Send an email to secure a place on one of the workshops. Commissions are also gladly undertaken. Please fill in the contact page for further information. Thank you. |
